College of Engineering Pune, an Autonomous Institute of Government of Maharashtra, (hereforth abbreviated as COEP), was established in the year 1854 and is one of the oldest & premier engineering colleges in the country. It was started as the ‘Poona Engineering Class & Mechanical School’ to train subordinate officers for carrying out public works like buildings, dams, canals, bridges etc. Later on, the school became Poona Civil Engineering College & subsequently the name was changed to `Government College of Engineering, Pune’. From the academic year 2003-2004, the Institute has got Autonomous status and since then it progressed in leaps and bounds towards its vision of becoming one of the leading institute in the country. It offers eighteen postgraduate programs leading to M.Tech. in following disciplines. It has applied for 2 new post graduate programs to AICTE. All PG programs are of 2 years [Full time] duration. All UG programs of the institute are accredited, and recently NBA team has accredited 17 PG programs offered by the institute
