Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli was established on 1 February 2007 as a result of quadrafurcation of Anna University into four universities, namely, Anna University Chennai, Anna University of Technology Trichy, and Anna University of Technology Coimbatore and Anna University of Technology Thirunelveli.
